David Herity stands down as Kildare manager

Kildare are searching for a new senior hurling manager after David Herity confirmed he was stepping down from the post after five years in charge.

In a statement released this afternoon, Herity said the decision to step down had been "difficult" and that he was "proud of what we achieved together".

"I believe that Kildare hurling has a promising future, and I have confidence that the foundation we have established will pave the way for further success," Herity wrote in his departing letter, in which he thanked the players, supporters and county officials during his tenure.

Appointed in 2018, Herity guided Kildare to Christy Ring Cup titles in 2020 and 2022, as well as Division 2B promotion in 2021.

Kildare enjoyed a terrific start to the 2023 campaign, winning their first four Division 2A league games to reach the promotion decider, where they fell short against Offaly.

However, their form collapsed in the summer, losing all five games in the Joe McDonagh Cup as they slid back to the third tier.
