David de Gea ignored Harry Maguire and then passed ball out of play in Man Utd 3-2 Norwich

David de Gea has been terrific for Manchester United this season.

The Spaniard has been one of few positives in a dismal campaign for the Red Devils.

De Gea has rediscovered the form that saw him once regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

He’s made numerous important saves in 2021/22 and cut out the mistakes that had creeped into his game.

The former Atletico stopper has come to United’s rescue many times this campaign and they would be much worse off without him.

However, while his shot-stopping has been back to his best, his distribution continues to come under question.

And one of his passes from United’s 3-2 victory against Norwich City on Saturday afternoon is being scrutinised on social media.

The ball was played back to De Gea in the 79th minute.

The Spanish goalkeeper turned towards Harry Maguire, who was in acres of space.

However, De Gea seemed to panic after being put under pressure by Teemu Pukki.

De Gea completely ignored Maguire, turned back the other way and proceeded to pass the ball out of play.

De Gea’s distribution is certainly an area of his game that could be improved.

The 31-year-old spoke to the media after his side’s victory.

“Until the last second it was very stressful,” De Gea told Man United’s official website.

“We were 2-0 up against Norwich so we cannot lose the control of the game. But we started giving chances away and they scored at the end of the first half, which is always tough.
