Dates for First Division play-offs confirmed

The SSE Airtricity Men's First Division play-offs will get underway next Tuesday, 24 October with Wexford hosting Cobh Ramblers in their semi-final first leg at Ferrycarrig Park.

The second leg between the clubs, who will finish fourth and third respectively in the League of Ireland second tier, will then take place on Saturday, 28 October with a 5pm kick-off St Colman's Park.

Second-placed Waterford will be in action in the other semi-final against the team that finishes fifth in the First Division but will only discover their opponents and the first leg date after Friday's final round of league fixtures.

Athlone Town currently occupy that final play-off spot but both Treaty United and Bray Wanderers, who are two and three points adrift of the midlanders respectively, can still mathematically overhaul them but only with victories - the Wicklow side needing a sizeable goal difference swing in their favour.

Athlone host Longford Town in the midlands derby on Friday knowing a win will seal fifth, while Treaty United will be at Waterford and Bray host Finn Harps.

Meanwhile, the kick-off time for Sligo Rovers and Drogheda United's Premier Division clash at The Showgrounds on Saturday, 28 October has been moved forward from 7.45pm to 6pm.
