Darwin Nunez to Arsenal transfer: Edu meeting revealed, £67m price, Tottenham twist

Arsenal are in need of a top-quality striker this summer after allowing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Barcelona during the January transfer window.

One of the names that has been linked is Benfica frontman Darwin Nunez, who has attracted plenty of attention from a host of Europe's top teams. The Uruguayan international has enjoyed an extremely productive campaign for the Portuguese giants, netting 26 goals in all competitions, including a memorable finish to knock Ajax out of the UEFA Champions League earlier this month.

With all of that being said, takes a look at the latest developments on a potential summer move for the youngster.

According to The Athletic, superagent Jorge Mendes is in talks with Nunez, as well as AS Roma's Tammy Abraham, about replacing Harry Kane should the Tottenham Hotspur striker leave the Lillywhites this summer.

The report also claims that Mendes enjoys a solid relationship with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and Managing Director Fabio Paratici.

Gunners technical director Edu is in contact with the representatives of Nunez and has shortlisted the Uruguayan forward as a potential summer signing.
