Dartford boss Alan Dowson holding his nerve before their transfer deadline

Dartford manager Alan Dowson is holding his nerve ahead of this week’s transfer deadline.

Dowson hasn’t ruled out adding to his squad and has targets in mind.

But he’s happy to crack on with their National League South promotion push with what he has if they cannot get a deal over the line before the deadline for registering new players for National League outfits today.

“You have to hold your nerve,” he said.

“We’re in for four or five players, and we know we won’t get all four or five. But we might get one or two.

“We’ll attack a list of players but other teams are probably attacking similar lists.

"But we’re battling near the top and can say ‘Come and get us promotion’.

“We’re looking to add another one or two but, after Thursday, we will just crack on.”

Darts have recently signed striker Harvey Bradbury who has joined on loan until the end of the season from Dorchester.

He scored on his debut off the bench in a win against Farnborough before Saturday’s trip to Concord was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Dowson said: “He’s a good lad.

“I had him at Woking and he did well. It’s up to him to go again but it’s been a good start for him.

“He has scored goals at this level for Oxford City and Woking.

"He gives us a bit of extra pace up top.

“Wally [Alex Wall] has been one of our best players out there recently and, with Charlie Sheringham coming back, there could be some good competition there soon.”

With utility players Jordan Wynter and Sam Odaudu also close to returns to full fitness, Dartford’s squad appears in a healthy place.

On what knocks remained for those in his squad, Dowson stated: “None at all.

"We’re fully fit as we speak.”
