Danny Murphy claims West Ham could regret not signing an extra striker
Danny Murphy believes that West Ham could regret not signing an extra striker in January to compete with Michail Antonio.
West Ham don't have many alternative options up front and Antonio wasn't at his best in the 3-1 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.
The Hammers are still competing in the Europa League having made it through to the quarter-finals, while they are currently in seventh place in the Premier League.
Murphy, however, feels that David Moyes should have added to his attacking resources in January.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy said: 'I do think they missed a trick in not getting someone. Even if they couldn't get someone they thought would take his place, someone who can compete at his level. Someone a bit younger or hungry who doesn't mind coming off the bench.
'All the top clubs in the Premier League, when a team makes a signing in your position you automatically jump up a gear.
'You know you may get your place taken. When Antonio is fit, generally he plays.'
Murphy claimed that Moyes would have wanted to sign a striker and may not have received the financial backing that he required.
