Danny Lafferty hit with six-match ban following FAI Cup red card
Danny Lafferty has been hit with a six-match ban following his red card in Sligo Rovers' FAI Cup defeat to Drogheda United on Friday night.
The Sligo defender was dismissed following a clash with Kyle Robinson in the penalty area, which resulted in a spot-kick to the home side.
He will not be available again for the Bit O'Red until their meeting with his hometown club Derry City on 23 September.
Drogheda came from behind to beat the visitors at Weavers Park, the conceded penalty proving decisive as the home side won 2-1 to advance to the next round.
Amidst the commotion of the Cup tie, Sligo's substitute goalkeeper Richard Brush was also sent off, and he has been hit with a three-match ban.
