Danny Kedwell leaves assistant manager role at Chatham Town after two and a half years at the club

Chatham Town have announced the departure of assistant boss Danny Kedwell who says his time at the club was unreal.

Local legend Kedwell joined Chats in December 2021 - a club where he started his football journey - arriving after a short spell as a manager at Cray Wanderers.

Kedwell stepped up to a player-assistant manager role under Kevin Hake and has been there during the club’s impressive rise from the Southern Counties East Premier Division to the Isthmian Premier Division.

Chatham finished second this season, the club’s highest-ever finish, and only missed out on promotion for a third successive season with a defeat in the play-off final.

Kedwell, now 40, got his last goal for Chats in a 3-1 defeat against Horsham a month ago. He played 16 games last season and came off the bench late on in the club’s Velocity Trophy win against Hashtag United.

He posted on X: “I’d like to thank everyone for their support over the last two and a half years at a fantastic club close to my heart where my football journey all began.

“A special mention to Kev, my friend for life, I’ve learned so much from him what we have achieved together is just unreal.”

Chatham chairman and manager Kevin Hake said: “Keds has played a big role in helping the club climb up the divisions in recent years, adding vital experience and know-how on our journey to making club history.

“He’s a good friend and I want to personally wish him all the best in any future endeavours.”
