Daniel James stays true to celebration vow after setting up Leeds equaliser

Daniel James celebrated Leeds' equaliser against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, sticking to his pre-match promise.

The Welshman, who left Old Trafford for Elland Road last August, vowed to celebrate against his former employers if he scored.

Although he didn't find the back of the net, James did set up Leeds' second goal in the 4-2 thriller - drilling a superb cross across the middle of the box for Raphinha to tap in.

Many players choose not to celebrate against their former clubs out of respect, yet James - who made 74 appearances for the Red Devils - disagrees with that notion.

"Will I celebrate if I score? Of course I do," said the former Swansea City star.

"I have no hatred towards Man United. I left on good terms. I still have a lot of friends there. It's a great feeling to score a goal. So of course I'll celebrate."

Goals from Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Fred and Anthony Elanga secured all three points from United, who've scored nine in total against Leeds this season.

The Red Devils, who remain fourth in the Premier League table, were 2-0 up at half-time before Leeds scored twice in two minutes through Rodrigo and Raphinha.

The result leaves Marcelo Bielsa's side just five points above the relegation zone and many are now tipping them for a return to the Championship.

"It is impossible not to be worried," admitted Bielsa at full-time. "We have conceded 50 goals. Do you think I cannot be worried? How can I not feel responsible?"

On Sunday's performance, Bielsa added: "In the first half we started well and ended well but didn't manage to score. In the moments we lost dominance they scored.

"After we got back level we had the chance to go 3-2 up and straight way they went up and scored again.
