Dani Alves names key similarity between Man City boss Pep Guardiola and Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel

Dani Alves has named the main similarity between Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and Chelsea's Thomas Tuchel.

The Brazilian legend worked with the two Premier League coaches at Barcelona and PSG respectively. Since their arrivals in England, both Guardiola and Tuchel have enjoyed incredible success.

At City, Guardiola has won three Premier Leagues as well as enjoying FA Cup and League Cup success. Tuchel meanwhile has won the Champions League and the Club World Cup in his short time at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to Four Four Two, Alves was asked to compare the two managers. He said: "Well, I can understand it (the similarities between the coaches).

"Perhaps the main similarity is their great capacity to identify different roles for their players. Both of them have good eyes to see where certain players can be more useful.

"Pep used to say that the most talented players should have the ball more often, and the other ones should run to fill the correct spaces." In the French capital, Alves was asked to switch from his familiar full-back role to central midfield, a challenge he relished.

"(I found that very) enjoyable," he continued. "I remember when he ( Tuchel ) said to me, ‘Dani, it’s a waste to have you as a full-back because you’re not going to touch the ball as much as you should’.

"I thought that was a great compliment. It did work well, too, as I felt comfortable in that position."
