Dan Evans news: Brit progresses to second round at Monte Carlo Masters

British star Dan Evans has managed to make it through to the second round at the Monte Carlo Masters after seeing off his French opponent in straight sets in his opening match.

The 31-year-old defeated Benjamin Bonzi 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) after a nervy second set but the British No 2 managed to pull an impressive performance out of the bag and won the tiebreak.

Evans started the match off the stronger of the two players and he took full advantage of Bonzi’s first serve struggles and drop shots to take the lead 3-0 in the first set.
