Daina Moorehouse edges closer to Olympic berth in Bangkok

Daina Moorehouse moved a step closer to the Paris Games with victory at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Bangkok.

The Wicklow boxer moved into the last 16 of the tournament with an impressive 4:1 split decision victory over Armenia's Anush Grigoryan at the Indoor Stadium Huamark.

Moorehouse is now two wins away from claiming a place at this summer's showpiece, and is back in the ring on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Dundalk fighter and former world champion, Amy Broadhurst's Olympic dream is over.

Having changed allegiance to Great Britain, Broadhurst was beaten in the 60kg lightweight category by South Korea's Oh Yeon-ji.

Tokyo bronze medallist Aidan Walsh will box for a place at the Games later today, while Grainne Walsh is also in action.
