Dael Fry reveals what the mood at Middlesbrough is ahead of crucial clash against Preston North End

Middlesbrough face a trip to Preston North End this weekend for a game which could guarantee the side a play-off spot.

Middlesbrough have to win their game whilst also relying on Sheffield United or Luton Town to slip up in their games.

Sheffield United face champions Fulham whilst Luton are against Reading who just avoided relegation this season.

Boro come into this game on the back of a 3-1 win against Stoke City at the weekend so will be hoping they have some momentum to see them through.

Defender Dael Fry insists there are no nerves in the Middlesbrough camp going into the game as he told BBC Radio Tees (via Teesside Live): “That’s the shame [to concede on Saturday], but we got the win which was important and we put the pressure on the teams above us ahead of going to Preston.

”We know we have to go there and win, potentially by two goals, and hopefully we do that and other results to our way as well and we can get into the play-offs. There’s no reason why we can’t do it.

”I don’t think any of us felt nerves out there because we know what we’re capable of. I think we’ve found a lot more consistency since this gaffer has come in. Everyone has bought into it and everyone has been fantastic. The togetherness in the dressing room is unbelievable.

“We’ve got Isaiah Jones there on the right-hand side who’s been fantastic, and talented players all over the pitch like Tav [Marcus Tavernier]. We had to run ourselves into the ground and that’s what we did.

“I’m a bit down after conceding that late goal, but we know we just have to go to Preston and put on a performance and win.”
