CWG 2022: Murali Sreeshankar Wins Silver In Men's Long Jump
Murali Sreeshankar won the silver medal in the men's long jump at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 with a best jump of 8.08m. He achieved the feat with his fifth jump, having spent most of the final out of the medal spots. Bahamas's Laquan Nairn won the gold medal with a jump of 8.08m as well, but he was ahead of Sreeshankar because of a better second-best attempt.
Sreeshankar might have jumped above the 8 metre mark in his fourth attempt too but it was deemed unsuccessful as his foot was millimetres ahead of the foul line on the launchboard.
This is India's second medal in athletics at CWG 2022 after Tejaswin Shankar's bronze in high jump.
Promoted
The other Indian in the fray, Muhammed Anis Yahiya finished a creditable fifth as he jumped 7.97m in his 6th and last attempt.
