CT City boss John Comitis confirms Kaizer Chiefs interest in Terrence Mashego
Cape Town City FC chairman John Comitis has confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs did enquire about signing Terrence Mashego but did not divulge anything about the speculation surrounding the defender's possible move to join Mamelodi Sundowns.
Media reports doing the rounds on Monday claimed that the 24-year-old Bafana Bafana international was close to agreeing on a lucrative deal to sign for Sundowns.
The current PSL transfer window closes on 22 September.
According to GOAL website, Comitis had talks with Chiefs over acquiring Mashego: "We were in talks with Kaizer Chiefs regarding Mashego," Comitis said.
Then Comitis was asked about the rumoured Sundowns link, to which he jokingly replied: "No, no, where did you see that? Let me check the story... (laughs)."
CT City and Sundowns have had a great working relationship regarding player trasnsfers in recent years, with the likes of Lyle Lakay, Kermit Erasmus, and Bradley Ralani having moved from the Mother City to Chloorkop fairly recently.
Mashego joined CT City in October 2020 from TS Galaxy and has been a star performer for his DStv Premiership side and the South African national team.
