CSK's 5 IPL 2025 Retentions Revealed By Report, Includes MS Dhoni. It Will Cost Rs...

While all Indian Premier League sides enjoy massive fan following, there are some which enjoy extra special status. Like Mumbai Indians. Like Chennai Super Kings. So naturally, the focus is more on these teams ahead of the IPL 2025 retentions. The deadline to release the list is October 31. The official broadcasters will do a show on it from 4:30 PM IST but several reports have already started predicting the likely retentions. Since the IPL 2025 will see a mega auction. It is natural that several big names will be  released. 

A report in ESPN Cricinfo has said that CSK have finalised their five retentions. They are MS Dhoni, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube and Sri Lanka fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana. It means that stars like Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway and others will be released. 

The report further said that the five retentions will cost them at least Rs 65 crore from an overall purse of Rs 120 crore. Dhoni is likely to be retained as an uncapped player. 

While nothing has been confirmed by the BCCI or the franchises, the rumour mill has been working overtime with many prominent players finding themselves in headlines. In a recent event, former Indian cricket team skipper MS Dhoni was asked about the continuous discussions and he came up with a hilarious reply.

"Everyone is a team owner now," Dhoni said at the event.

"Whatever player they desire, whichever player is going up for auction and whoever they decide to purchase, we should be prepared for it. IPL auction works in mysterious ways.," he added.

Dhoni, who captained Chennai Super Kings to five IPL titles, recently confirmed that he will be taking part in IPL 2025. The veteran wicket-keeper batter is expected to be retained by Chennai
