CSA to announce Proteas women's captain ahead of Pakistan tour

Cricket South Africa (CSA) have announced that interim captain Suné Luus, who led the Proteas women's team to a historic T20 World Cup final earlier this year, will no longer continue in that role when they tour Pakistan next month.

In announcing its squad to tour Pakistan, CSA said in a press release on Friday it was set to name a new captain before their white-ball tour of Pakistan commences to ensure a seamless transition for the team. The first match is on 1 September.

Luus had replaced skipper Dane van Niekerk in an interim capacity.

Director of cricket Enoch Nkwe expressed his appreciation of the role Luus played in the Proteas women's team during her time as stand-in skipper.

"On behalf of CSA and the team, I am ... eager to declare my sincere appreciation to Suné Luus for her outstanding leadership and remarkable achievements during her time as interim captain," Nkwe said.

"We have full confidence that she will continue to be a guiding force both on and off the field, offering valuable support to the incoming captain."

They will oversee the tour of Pakistan, an inbound tour against New Zealand, as well as a pending home Bangladesh tour in December, which forms part of the Women's Future Tours Programme.

“I would like to take this opportunity to share my heartfelt gratitude to Hilton Moreeng for his unwavering commitment and exceptional service to the Proteas Women's team since 2012," Nkwe said.

"Hilton's contributions have been instrumental in shaping the team's success, and his leadership has been invaluable. We extend our best wishes to Hilton for the remainder
