Crystal Palace could reinforce two key positions at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace have been tipped to reinforce two key positions this summer by Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The Eagles enjoyed a successful maiden campaign under the tutelage of manager Patrick Vieira throughout 2021/22 and could look to make further additions to their first-team squad over the coming months.

Vieira began his Palace revolution in impressive fashion, bringing in the likes of Michael Olise, Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen, while allowing several veterans to depart.

The south London outfit had the oldest squad in the Premier League in 2020/21, with the average age being 28.8, but that figure dropped to 26.9 last term.

And the French tactician is set to continue the overhaul of his playing staff, with The Guardian revealing that Palace are closing in on the signature of RC Lens midfielder Cheick Doucoure.

It’s believed that the capital club have agreed upon an initial fee worth £18 million with the Ligue 1 outfit, potentially rising to £22m with add-ons.

Doucoure will add to the acquisition of goalkeeper Sam Johnstone following his arrival on a free transfer from West Bromwich Albion should he complete the switch alongside Malcolm Ebiowei.

Palace have been credited with an interest in several other players alongside Doucoure, though, and Bridge believes there are two main areas Vieira will be targeting reinforcements in.
