Crystal Palace: £14m star needs to 'show what he's capable of' at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace need striker Odsonne Edouard to show everyone what he is capable of, says journalist Dean Jones.

The Frenchman arrived at Selhurst Park with a good reputation after his exploits in Scotland; however, he has not been able to live up to it in England.

During his Celtic days, Edouard scored an impressive 87 goals in 179 appearances. At Palace, though, the 24-year-old has failed to replicate the sort of form he showed in Glasgow.

In total, he has found the back of the net just nine times in 40 outings for the Eagles.

It is not the best record, but Edouard has been able to score in his last two games, grabbing goals against Leeds United and Chelsea.

The former Celtic man cost Palace £14m (via BBC Sport) when he joined them back in the 2021 summer transfer window.

With Edouard managing to find a bit of form, Jones is now hoping to see him kick on and remind everyone what he can do.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “He had a big reputation when they signed him and it seemed like quite an exciting one. He’s probably just been lacking a bit of confidence. Hopefully, for Crystal Palace’s sake, he can get that confidence now and show everybody what he’s capable of.”

A lot depends on what Patrick Vieira wants to do with Wilfried Zaha. The Ivorian has, of course, played as a striker at times under his current manager, and it is a role he is capable of excelling in.

In fact, he already has one goal to his name as a No.9 this season, dispatching against Liverpool back in August.

However, if Vieira wants to keep him in his preferred wide position on the left, then Edouard should probably get the nod to start up front.
