Cristiano Ronaldo wins Manchester United Goal of the Season award

Cristiano Ronaldo has added another award to his impressive collection after winning Manchester United’s Goal of the Season.

The 37-year-old has already been named the club’s Player of the Year after proving to be a rare bright spark in an otherwise dismal season at Old Trafford. Ronaldo scored 24 goals in his first campaign back at United, having made his return last summer.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner impressed during United’s run towards the end of the season, scoring hat-tricks to inspire his side to wins over Tottenham and Norwich which ultimately proved vital in securing a Europa League spot for next season. And it’s one of those goals which has seen him take home another accolade.

Ronaldo has won the club’s Goal of the Season award for his spectacular first against Spurs back in March. Having received the ball 30 yards from goal, the Portugal international took a touch before letting fly with a powerful effort as he blasted the ball past Hugo Lloris.

The goal was voted the best strike of the season by United fans, winning a poll that was unsurprisingly dominated by Ronaldo. The former Real Madrid man’s effort took 29 per cent of the vote, and he also took second as his effort in the reverse fixture against Spurs claimed 24 per cent.

Ronaldo’s latest award means he has now won the Goal of the Season award a record four times since it was introduced in 2005/06. The Portuguese was previously tied with former teammate Wayne Rooney on three following his first spell at the club.
