Cristiano Ronaldo: Man Utd star provided three beautiful assists in one game v Villa

Cristiano Ronaldo is regularly lauded as the greatest goalscorer in football history – and with good reason.

The Manchester United superstar has rippled the back of the net a frightening number of times for club and country over the course of his career.

At the time of writing, Ronaldo has scored an astonishing 804 goals, a tally bettered by no other footballer past or present.

To beat an opposing goalkeeper that number of times as a professional requires a certain degree of selfishness, of that there is no doubt.

However, that doesn’t mean Ronaldo only thinks of himself on the pitch and refuses to setup teammates to score.

Sure, a few avid Lionel Messi fans will try to argue he’s far too selfish, but the fact of the matter is that the 37-year-old has a whopping 271 assists to go with his goals.

Not bad, right? Ronaldo’s playmaking ability is criminally underrated and the main reason for that is because his eternal rival, Messi, tops him – and pretty much every other footballer – in that department.

But the creative side to Ronaldo’s game needs to be respected and a supporter of the Portuguese superstar has decided to do just that by revisiting the time he provided three beautiful assists in one United game against Aston Villa in 2008.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner ran riot at Old Trafford that day. He set up Wayne Rooney (x2) and Carlos Tevez in very stylish fashion and scored the opener himself in a thumping 4-0 win for Sir Alex Ferguson‘s side.

Ronaldo’s second assist against Villa in 2008 might just be one of the greatest in Premier League history…
