Cristiano Ronaldo discovers extent of damage to Bugatti after employee crashes into wall

Cristiano Ronaldo’s £1.8million Bugatti Veyron was sent away on a tow-truck under blue tarpaulin after his bodyguard crashed the supercar into a wall in Majorca.

The Manchester United superstar is enjoying a family holiday on the Spanish island, getting some well-deserved rest after a relentless first season back in English football. Despite now being 37, the Portuguese icon still amassed 39 appearances for his club side, before turning out for the national side in this summer’s batch of Nations League encounters.

And ahead of his first pre-season with new United boss Erik ten Hag, Ronaldo opted to fly his young family out to Majorca for a stay in a private villa. But his trip took a turn on Monday, when his prized supercar was involved in a crash on the family’s way to a day out.

It is understood that Ronaldo wasn’t behind the wheel when the incident took place, with the dad of five with his children, and partner Georgina Rodriguez. Instead, one of Ronaldo’s two bodyguards are believed to have been driving when the car came off the wheel and smashed into a stone wall.

The report adds that the member of Ronaldo’s security detail quickly got out of the car to continue the journey, leaving other staff employed by the United icon to greet local police. Responding to the incident, Spanish police have confirmed they had no information to suggest Ronaldo was the individual driving.

A source said of the incident: “The car smashed into a wall but there was only material damage with no-one injured and the driver accepted full responsibility for what happened.
