Cristiano Ronaldo bluntly denies alleged message to Man Utd fans - "I didn't say that"

Cristiano Ronaldo has rubbished suggestions he told fans "I'm not finished" after helping Manchester United defeat Brentford on Monday night.

The Portugal superstar, 37, was on the scoresheet as the Red Devils earned a comfortable 3-0 victory to end their three-match winless run. Ronaldo converted a penalty just after the hour mark to double the early lead Bruno Fernandes gave the hosts at Old Trafford.

Raphael Varane then scored his first goal for the club to ensure United earned all three points from their final home Premier League game of the season. After the match, the men in red thanked their fans for the support they have received throughout a troubled season with a lap of honour to all corners of the ground.

During this procession, Ronaldo turned to the Sky Sports camera accompanying him and appeared to say "I'm not finished" with a grin on his face as he saluted the Old Trafford faithful. In the studio, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher suspected the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was sending a "message" to incoming manager Erik ten Hag, who will take over from interim boss Ralf Rangnick this summer.

Many fans shared Carragher's view, believing Ronaldo was all but confirming he will stay for at least another season despite the fact United appear destined to be playing in the Europa League rather than the Champions League next campaign. However, the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward has taken to social media to pour cold water on these suggestions.
