Cricket SA welcomes 1 500 fans for domestic T20 Challenge

Cricket South Africa will allow1 500 vaccinated fans into the stands for the domestic T20 Challenge starting on Monday at St George's Park.

"It is an exciting time as cricket lovers will get to attend the domestic CSA T20 challenge this month, after almost two years of strict tournament bio-safe environments that did not allow spectator attendance," said CSA is a statement on Saturday.

"A maximum of 1500 fully vaccinated spectators will be allowed to attend all the matches at St George’s Park, and all Covid-19 protocols are to be observed at all times.

Fans will need to provide proof of identification and a vaccination certificate, with the exception of children under the age of 12 who are allowed to attend without proof of vaccination."

The Proteas played India this summer behind closed doors after fans weren't allowed to witness South Africa beat the visitors 2-1 in the Test series and 3-0 in the ODIs.

It's believed that government is set to relax Covid regulations to allow fans into sports grounds for up to 50% capacity, although nothing has yet been made official.

Current regulations limit federations from allowing more than 2 000 fans to attend matches.
