Couple's horror TUI holiday as they are rocked by 'dead woman's body under sheet, public sex and guest defecating in hotel pool'

A couple claims their luxury holiday turned into a nightmare after witnessing a series of shocking scenes including a body under sheet, people defecating in the hotel swimming pool, and others having sex in public.

Alan, an NHS healthcare assistant, stayed at the hotel in the Dominican Republic through TUI as part of a birthday treat for his wife. The couple booked a 17-day holiday at the Riu Republica Hotel in Punta Cana which was described as a five-star resort on TUI's website, Hull Live reports.

Despite this, problems almost immediately began when the couple arrived late in June. While the hotel was described as an "adults only" venue, Alan claims it was more like a "party hotel" with people taking drugs, having sex in the pool, and supposedly a lack of security.

The couple also claim to have seen a body hidden under a sheet after a hotel guest fell from a balcony - a similar death was reported by Dominican Today on June 30. When Alan complained to his TUI rep about the problems, he claims he was met with indifference.

Alan said: "I've spent tens of thousands on holidays with TUI in the past, so to be offered only £200 and some counselling for what was truly a horrific holiday is a joke. It's really disheartening, because this was the first time with TUI that we've been treated like this.

"This was 100 per cent the worst holiday we've ever been on. My wife and I have been travelling together for 21 years and we have never known anything like it – the only good thing about the holiday was the room!
