Corrie star Alexandra Mardell gets 'cutest' leaving gift from soap 'family' after being left in tears on last day

Coronation Street star Alexandra Mardell has shared a look at the 'cutest' gift she was given as she left the cobbles.

The actress has played Emma Brooker in the ITV soap for four years.

But it was announced earlier this month that Alexandra would be leaving the programme - and Emma - behind for pastures new.

While her final scenes aren't set to air until April, the soap's schedule means that Alexandra herself has already spent her last day on set.

Earlier this week, the 28-year-old said she 'ugly cried as soon as the scene completed'.

Alexandra made sure to treat her soap pals before she left, sharing a glimpse at some special biscuits she had made.

The pink collection of treats featured pictures of the departing Corrie star from various scenes with her castmates.

But they also treated her in return.

Taking to Instagram, the soap star posted a picture of a simple silver necklace.

The most special bit about it, however, was that it had been engraved with a date - 20.04.18.

Explaining what it means, Alexandra wrote over the image: "First appearance on the cobbles. Cutest gift from the Corrie fam," followed by a heart emoji.

She even wore the thoughtful gift as she headed out in Manchester.

Alexandra joined Corrie stars past and present as they headed to the Manchester Opera House to see former soap star Kym Marh in Fatal Attraction.

Alexandra spent her last day on the Salford-based set on Tuesday (February 22) and shared a picture of the Coronation Street sign outside.
