Coronation Street's Claire Sweeney excites with Cassie Plummer tease after her 'double' spotted

Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney has delighted fans with news about Cassie Plummer after her 'double' was spotted in personal update.

Fans of the ITV soap know that the actress joined the long-running show as Cassie, the daughter of Evelyn Plummer and the real mum of Tyrone Dobbs, last year.

After ruffling feathers - not least with her own mother - Cassie has since settled in Weatherfield and in recent months, the character and Weatherfield stalwart Steve McDonald have had more scenes together.

It mainly started when Cassie found herself in the fold at No.1 Coronation Street having become Ken Barlow's carer after he fell down the stairs and fractured his pelvis before seemingly winning Steve round and starting a new double act.

They were later seen going on a revenge mission with Cassie helping Steve get one back on his former Weatherfield County hero, Tommy Orpington, after he had an affair with his wife, Tracy Barlow, before she left him for the former footballer.

They have since flitted between being friends and frenemys but spoilers for next week's Corrie has teased a romantic spark between the pair. When Cassie Plummer reveals she’s going on a date later, Steve's disparaging about the man she’s meeting.

Cassie reckons he sounds jealous but when her date doesn’t go to plan Steve comes to the rescue, takes her to The Rovers and boosts her self esteem. Is the spark between them reignited?

The following day at No.1, Ken’s oblivious that Cassie and Steve spent the night together. Meanwhile, Adam Barlow calls round and is perturbed
