Coronation Street fans say it's the 'final straw' as they are left baffled by character's sudden 'change'

Coronation Street fans have been left perplexed and claimed it was the 'final straw' as Carla Connor made a sudden change. The character, played by Alison King, has been a much-loved staple in the ITV soap since 2006 and has faced her fair share of trials and tribulations over the years.

She was involved in the death of Tony Gordon, in which she had to be kidnapped in the Underworld factory and was shockingly raped by her boyfriend, Frank Foster before becoming a suspect in his murder. There's also been an affair and marriage with Peter Barlow, escaping a fire at her flat started by her arch-enemy Tracy Barlow, developing a gambling addiction, learning that family friend Johnny Connor was actually her biological father and becoming a public enemy through her workaholism which lead to the factory roof fatally collapsing and her subsequent psychotic episode.

But Carla has rarely not been the feisty businesswoman viewers have come to know and love but her latest investment came as a surprise to Corrie fans. During Monday night's trip to the cobbles, Carla was seen excitedly returning back to the flat to show off her latest purchase to Ryan.

She couldn't hide her glee at picking up a shopping trolley from the charity shop, meaning she didn't have to struggle back to the street with tonnes of bags on her arms. Ryan, however, didn't appear too fussed but Carla continued to share her delight and in the meantime, Corrie fans were flocking to social media to have their say.
