Cop turned off his body-worn camera and had sex with 'vulnerable' woman during a call-out

A police officer who had sex with a 'vulnerable' woman whilst on duty has been jailed. Former Cheshire PC Jordan Masterson, 28, was sent to her address in the county in the early hours of December 28, 2021, to help with 'ongoing domestic issues.'

However, a court heard that whilst there he de-activated his body-worn camera and had sex with her. Shortly after he left, at around 1:15am, she made another call to the force which he responded to, and for which he declined assistance from colleagues.

The woman said that during a conversation with Masterson on his return, he told her to not tell anyone what had happened in the house.

At an accelerated misconduct hearing held by the force prior to the criminal proceedings starting, gross misconduct was found proven and it was ruled Masterson would have been dismissed had he not already resigned. He has been placed on the barred list meaning he cannot be employed in policing in the future.

Following the sentencing, IOPC Regional Director Catherine Bates said: “The police are there to help the people they serve, not exploit them. Abuse of position for a sexual purpose is serious corruption
