'Contact sport' - Scott Parker delivers verdict on Bournemouth red card against Birmingham City
Bournemouth will appeal Jefferson Lerma’s red card after Scott Parker claimed he was amazed the midfielder was sent off against Birmingham City.
Blues were trailing 2-0 when Lerma scythed down Onel Hernandez at knee height with a quarter of the game remaining.
He was shown a straight red card and while Blues hinted at a comeback they eventually lost 3-1.
Cherries manager Parker was more than surprised by James Linnington’s decision.
“I was amazed that he sent him off," he said. "I thought something had happened because there was a big melee but the fourth official told me it was for the tackle.
“We are going to appeal that now, it was a big turning point.
