Conservative MP posts from hospital bed after cycling accident

A Conservative MP has shared a photograph of himself from his hospital bed after fracturing his hip in a cycling accident.

Mark Logan, MP for Bolton North East, revealed that he sustained the injury after hitting a kerb while out riding his bike.

In a Facebook post this evening (Tuesday), he said he had since undergone surgery and was in "surprisingly good spirits".

He wrote: "A short story: man hits kerb. One fractured hip, two hours surgery and three pins later...

"& I'm in surprisingly good spirits. Gutted i've to cancel upcoming events and meetings in Bolton and Westminster

"Hopefully, I'll be out of the wheelchair and back climbing Winter Hill in a few weeks....

"A huge thank you to the passersby who went above and beyond to make me comfortable whilst waiting for an ambulance and to every doctor and nurse for their care.

"Our NHS has been freaking brilliant to me!!!!"

Mr Logan has served as MP for Bolton North East for almost three years, having been elected at the 2019 General Election. Earlier this year, he quit his position as Private Parliamentary Secretary, citing decisions that have 'not sat well with me', adding 'there is only so much myself and constituents can ignore'.
