Conor McGregor warned he's done as a champion as he plots huge comeback ahead of UFC return

UFC star Kamaru Usman says Conor McGregor‘s days as a champion are over.

Notorious has not fought since his most recent setback against Dustin Poirier after he suffered a broken leg in his UFC 264 trilogy fight with The Diamond.

McGregor, 34, has apparently made a full recovery from surgery after having an intramedullary rod inserted into his tibia and a plate with screws attached to his fibula.

The star – who has been on the sidelines for well over a year now – provided his fans with an update this week, saying and claiming he will make ‘the greatest and the biggest comeback in sporting history.’

UFC welterweight champion Usman told the ‘I Am Athlete‘ podcast that he reckons McGregor will still carry on competing.

But as far as he is concerned he thinks his best days are now behind him as he looks to pursue a career in Hollywood.

Usman said: “He’s not necessarily done, but he’s done as a champion.

“This is my perspective, because when I fight guys, I study their hearts. When I watch fights, I watch their heart and for me, he’s done. He’s done, because I don’t know whether the goal was to get the money.

“I don’t know if that’s what it was, because there’s a story about him: He was broke. For me, it seemed like it was about not being broke, getting money.

“So I understand that. Now he’s not broke. But how are you gonna be champion, because that’s what drove you to become champion, because you didn’t want to be broke? Now you’re not broke anymore.”
