Conor McGregor vs Khabib UFC 229: Up close footage of face off is chilling

One of the most memorable bouts in MMA history was UFC 229: Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor on October 6, 2018 in Las Vegas.

McGregor, who has been described as UFC’s Tiger Woods, was returning to the cage after two years away from the sport, which had caused him to be stripped of his titles for inactivity.

During his time away from Dana White‘s promotion, he had taken on boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, losing in round 10 despite putting on a brave showing against one of the sport’s all-time greats.

In the end, Khabib retained his lightweight title, pulling off a rear-naked choke on McGregor in the fourth round.

Afterwards, he screamed a few choice words at the Irishman, leading to chaos as the two fighters brawled with team members, overshadowing Khabib’s excellent performance against an all-time great.

However, as we have been reminded in the last week, the build up to the fight was pretty intense too.

The up close and personal footage has a ferocious intensity and shows that this sport is only for the toughest of competitors. And the footage has stood the test of time with fans queuing up with tweets.

Some are harking back to those days, with one fan tweeting “sadly nothing will come close” and another “unfortunately this was a once in a life time match!”
