Conor McGregor vs Kamaru Usman: Michael Bisping's brutal prediction
Michael Bisping believes Conor McGregor would be more likely to come out with a broken jaw than the welterweight belt if he were to fight Kamaru Usman.
Currently recovering from a broken leg sustained in his last fight vs Dustin Poirier, McGregor’s next fight is likely to be a huge one.
Fans and journalists alike are picking who they think his next fight should be, with a whole host of names being thrown around.
One of those is Kamaru ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ Usman, the current welterweight champion.
If McGregor was to come back and fight Usman, and beat him, then he would make history as the first UFC fighter to win belts in three weight divisions.
He became the UFC’s first ever dual-weight champion in 2016, claiming the lightweight belt off Eddie Alvarez with ease less than a year after topping the featherweight division. Still only 33 years old, McGregor is keen to keep writing history.
“He’s talking Kamaru Usman. Now maybe he’s just trying to make headlines… maybe he’s just having a laugh,” said former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, speaking on his YouTube channel.
“However, be careful what you wish for. Here’s the reality: Conor would take that fight. He probably walks around right now at about 180lbs. The man’s a fighter, none of us are scared of other men. Conor’s fought at 170 a few times – against blown-up lightweights, but still.
“He would take that fight and it would be huge, it would do mega, mega, massive pay-per-view numbers. Would the UFC allow that to happen? I guarantee Kamaru Usman is speaking to Ali Abdelaziz [manager] saying: ‘Call Dana White, make that fight.’”
Bisping doesn’t believe McGregor has what it takes to step up to welterweight, fight Usman and take the strap off him.
