Conor McGregor has been advised to chase a fight with UFC veteran Michael Chiesa - who was a victim of the Irishman's bus attack in 2018.
McGregor is eyeing a return to the octagon later this year for the first time since breaking his leg in defeat by Dustin Poirier. His new ripped physique has led to his fresh plan to return at 170lb and has called out champion Kamaru Usman to an immediate title challenge.
UFC legend Chael Sonnen believes Chiesa would make a suitable opponent for McGregor after the welterweight previously announced a lawsuit against McGregor after being injured in the bus attack. “Michael Chiesa. That’s the one that has absolutely never been discussed by anybody," Sonnen told his YouTube channel.
"But just to remind you guys. When the bus incident between Conor and the dolly and Khabib took place, there was lawsuits that followed that. And Chiesa was one of them. Chiesa got glass into his eye, it was very bad experience. I think that there’s a story there.
"I’ve always thought there was a story there that should be told. But neither guy has told it. Neither guy’s manager told it, neither camp has told it, no trainers have told it. But that’s the match. That’s a very interesting match from a stylistic standpoint. That checks a lot of boxes.”
