Commonwealth Games 2022: Gravesend gymnast Giarnni Regini-Moran adds floor bronze to team gold

Gravesend gymnast Giarnni Regini-Moran won bronze in the men's floor final - and recalled how Olympic disappointment fuelled his Commonwealth Games success.

Pegasus Gymnastics Club's Regini-Moran was part of Team GB's squad who missed out on a team medal in Tokyo, but he made amends with team gold in Birmingham and another medal in the individual events.

Team England team-mate Jake Jarman won gold on the floor - his third gold of the Games - with Regini-Moran edged out for silver when his score of 13.966 was beaten by Canada's Felix Dolci.

He said: “Coming fourth in Tokyo and missing out on medals fires you up, you want to be on that podium.

"This year I was so motivated, I knew I had more to give and I wasn't close to my full potential.

“I made a mistake in the routine but I managed to keep a cool head because I knew if I was to have any chance of a medal, I'd need to stick the landings.

“The team spirit we have is incredible, we work so hard together, we've trained for months and years for this.

"We bounce off each and we create our own team spirit and you are seeing the benefit of that. We work hard and we share pride in each other's results.”

Jarman echoed those remarks, saying: “We have an amazing group of boys, the team spirit is something really special and you can’t replicate that.

"Giarnni pushed through his routine and came out with an amazing result. I’m so proud of him.”
