Colts expected to start QB Riley Leonard in finale, sources say - ESPN
The Indianapolis Colts are expected to start rookie quarterback Riley Leonard on Sunday against the Houston Texans, sources told Stephen Holder and Jeremy Fowler on Tuesday.
Philip Rivers, who came out of retirement to join the Colts after Daniel Jones' season-ending Achilles injury, started the past three games. Rivers performed well, but the Colts lost all three games and were eliminated from playoff contention in Week 17.
Rivers said Sunday he had «no regrets» about playing this season, despite losing all three games. Philips had been a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2026 before unretiring. Now he won't be eligible for consideration again until 2031.
The Colts selected Leonard out of Notre Dame in the sixth round of this year's draft.
