Colm O'Rourke's football predictions
Colm O'Rourke looks ahead to the weekend's action, with provincial semi-final games in Munster, Ulster and Leinster.
At the end of it we'll know the full list of teams in both the All-Ireland qualifiers and Tailteann Cup.
SATURDAY
Munster SFC semi-final Tipperary v Limerick, FBD Semple Stadium, 7pm
This should be a very even game. Both teams got promotion in the league, Tipperary from Division 4 and Limerick from Division 3. And of course Limerick are the history makers, when winning the penalty shootout against Clare in the last round after the game was still level after extra time. There is now the clear prize of getting to a Munster final and the guarantee, for Tipperary that is, of being in the All-Ireland championship.
I go for the team in the higher division; I think Limerick are on a bit of a roll and will get a huge boost from that win over Clare.
SUNDAY
Leinster SFC semi-finals Kildare v Westmeath, Croke Park, 2.15pm Dublin v Meath, 4.30pm
Both games look clearcut on paper. Kildare, I thought, were a bit unfortunate to get relegated from Division 1 after beating Dublin and Monaghan and drawing with Kerry. Their form against Louth was very good, running up 2-22. Westmeath beat Longford after losing to them in the league.
Kildare are a big, mobile, high-scoring team. I'll take them to progress.
The game that I'm most interested in over the weekend is Dublin and Meath. Unfortunately it's been all one way over the last few years. It's a late match at 4.30pm, so it's obvious that none of the Dubs are rushing home to milk cows. Meath would have to improve an awful lot and so it would appear that Dublin are set fair for another Leinster final as I thought they were very impressive against Wexford.
They look as though they have
