The first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2024 season will be announced Tuesday. While we have a month until the final rankings, several teams needed wins to remain in their respective conference races or hold onto their hopes for an at-large bid to the CFP.
How will Saturday's top games affect the College Football Playoff chase? What are the current odds for the top four? The Allstate Playoff Predictor has the answers. Check back every week as the odds are updated following that week's games.
The biggest game of the day — the Ohio State Buckeyes' defeat of the Penn State Nittany Lions — might have been the biggest for setting the Big Ten's pecking order. Two teams — the Oregon Ducks (who beat Michigan this week) and Indiana Hoosiers (who defeated Michigan State Saturday) are undefeated — while the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions each have one conference loss. Ohio State plays Indiana on Nov. 23 while Penn State and Oregon won't play another ranked opponent the rest of the regular season.
Penn State wasn't the only undefeated to fall. The Iowa State Cyclones and Pittsburgh Panthers also lost. The Kansas State Wildcats were upset by the Houston Cougars, further muddying the Big 12 race. In the ACC, the Clemson Tigers were upset at home by the Louisville Cardinals. That leaves the Miami Hurricanes as the league's lone unbeaten and tied atop the conference standings with the SMU Mustangs.
