Coleen Nolan addresses 'breaking point' after fearing son would die amid secret addiction
Loose Women star Coleen Nolan and her son Shane Nolan have opened up about his secret drug addiction battle, for the first time. Last year, Shane hit the headlines following the breakdown of his marriage to Maddie Wahdan after 17 months, amid infidelity claims.
In a new episode on Coleen's YouTube channel, the 60-year-old claimed her eldest son, who she shares with actor Shane Richie, "f****d up" his marriage, amid his addiction woes.
Speaking to Shane from his home, she began by telling fans that while he seemed like a jolly person on camera, he had previously battled with drugs behind the scenes.
Turning to the 36-year-old, she said: "It might be a great high for however long but you were broke, you got into a lot of debt, as everyone does with addiction. Relationships, you f****d your marriage basically."
Singer Shane insisted his work schedule is one of the contributors that led him to drugs, which at times would result in a three-day bender.
"The constant moving, the travelling all of the time, having to be on stage until 11 o'clock at night, so the only way to pick yourself up is to [do drugs]," he claimed.
“I'd have a three day bender but I wasn't [doing drugs] Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. It probably would have got to that. I was splitting up, I was going through a tough time work wise, I didn't know what I wanted to do."
Coleen said she often blamed herself for his troubles, as she recalled a particularly worrying time.
She continued: “I remember when the time came that you passed out and split your head open early in the morning.
"He split his head open and got eight staples, or whatever it is, in his head. That was my breaking point, if this doesn't wake him up, he will, I kept saying, 'He's going to die'."
