Cody Drameh discusses life at Cardiff City following Leeds United loan
Cody Drameh has revealed he is loving life at Cardiff City following his move from Leeds United in the January window.
The full-back, who pushed to secure the switch to the Bluebirds, has been outstanding for Steve Morison since arriving, impressing with his pace and quality down the flank as well as his defensive ability.
Whilst the 20-year-old had been involved for the Whites in the past, this is his first consistent run in senior football.
And, speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Drameh confirmed that he is glad he made the switch to the Welsh capital.
“This is my first season if you like in a first team setting so going from 23s football, very spaced out, very relaxed, a game once a week, to games three times a week sometimes, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, it’s very demanding.
“I’ve had to adapt but I think the coaching staff have used their experience and helped me out to adapt to the games. The step up from PL2 to Championship is massive but I would encourage players to try and get out and play men’s football as soon as possible.”
The verdict
It was a brave decision for Drameh to push for the loan in January when it was clear that Marcelo Bielsa didn’t want the player to go.
However, you’d have to say it’s a decision that has proven to be correct, as he is flying for Cardiff right now and playing regularly has clearly helped him develop his game.
So, this has to be a move that all parties are pleased with at the moment. Drameh is enjoying his football, Leeds have seen their player improve and Cardiff have got a player that has helped the team.
