Coco Gauff tames wind and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova to reach French Open quarter-finals

Coco Gauff stuttered into the French Open quarter-finals with a 7-5 6-2 win over Anna Karolina Schmiedlova – with the comfortable scoreline not quite telling the whole story. The American struggled on serve inside a windy Court Philippe-Chatrier but still had enough firepower to book a clash with either Iga Swiatek or Lesia Tsurenko. If Swiatek sees off the Ukrainian later on Monday, it would see a rematch of the 2022 final when the Pole stormed past Gauff 6-1 6-3.
