Co-op Live expansion among huge developments planned for the city-region

An expansion of Manchester’s Co-op Live arena is one of the marquee planning developments across the city-region recently.

The UK's largest indoor arena wants to capitalise on its success with a new canal side terrace featuring a bar, café and merchandise stalls. The idea behind the proposal is to provide an extra food and drinks venue with ‘attractive views’ over the canal.

A new padel club for Bolton; a multi-million pound employment project in Oldham; and the redevelopment of the Manchester Ship Canal in Salford are also featured in recent plans tabled with Greater Manchester councils.

Town’s first padel club set to have 24/7 opening hours

A new five-court padel club in Bolton is set to open close to the town centre.

Padel Bolton Ltd have published plans in the past week to convert and existing industrial unit to house five indoor padel courts at Bolton Central Business Park, Nelson Street.

A planning application says if approved, the club, within a 2,340 sq m unit, would be open 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

The applicant is part of the team behind Just Padel, Preston, which supporting documents state was Lancashire’s first indoor padel tennis club.

24-hour bingo, slots and gaming venue planned for Greater Manchester high street

The 'adult gaming centre' is planned for a vacant unit on Newport Street

A 24-hour opening bingo and slot machine venue is planning to open in Bolton town centre.

German company Merkur Slots have applied to open what they describe as a ‘high street adult gaming centre’ on Newport Street with round the clock opening hours, seven days a week.

They plan to occupy the currently vacant shop
