Clyde 're-sign' David Goodwillie in controversial loan deal

Clyde are believed to have re-signed controversial striker David Goodwillie on loan from Raith Rovers.

It is expected that the 32-year-old will rejoin the Broadwood club permanently in the summer.

Former Dundee United striker Goodwillie signed a two-and-a-half year contract at Raith Rovers in January but the move prompted a furious backlash as the striker had been deemed a rapist by a civil court judge in 2017.

The move was viewed as a promotion and reward for the striker, who had stepped up from League One to the Championship, having scored 17 times in 25 games for Clyde.

Raith Rovers tore up his contract and stated that the striker would never play for the Kirkcaldy club, despite forking out a reported £50,000 for his services.

But it's understood that a deal was struck before Monday evening's deadline for temporary transfers, and Goodwillie could play for Clyde in their clash against Falkirk on Saturday.

Goodwillie had been at Clyde for five years before the controversial move.
