Club GAA: Ballyhale secure semi-final spot

HURLING

In Kilkenny James Stephens got the better of Graigue Ballycallan at Nowlan Park to march into the senior hurling semi-finals, winning 1-18 to 0-15.

Ballyhale Shamrocks are also through the semi-finals but had to survive a major scare as they narrowly beat Dicksboro, 1-20 to 0-21.

A red card for Paddy Mullen turned the game in Dicksboro's favour before Colin Fennelly was forced off with an injury. However two late points from TJ Reid proved to be enough for the defending All-Ireland club SHC champions.

Patrickswell booked their place in the Limerick senior hurling semi-finals with a convincing 4-17 to 1-17 victory over Ballybrown at the LIT Gaelic Grounds.

Goals from Cian Lynch, John Kirby and Aaron Gillane proved to be the difference between the sides as Patrickswell set-up a clash with Kilmallock in a week's time.

Doon will face Na Piarsaigh in the competition’s other semi-final after they edged out Mungret St Paul's 1-25 to 0-21.

Adam English was the star of the show for Doon after he shook off an ankle injury to inspire his side to a win and his 42nd minute goal gave Doon the platform they need to build victory on.

In Tipperary, Kiladangan set up a senior hurling final showdown with Thurles Sarsfields as they overcame Toomevara on a 2-30 to 2-21 scoreline.

Billy Seymour led the way with 0-14 for Toomevara, while Paul Flynn and Bryan McLoughney chipped in with the goals.

FOOTBALL

Duhallow eased into the Cork senior football semi-finals with a convincing 3-11 to 0-10 victory over Douglas.

Early goals from Mikey McAuliffe and Darragh Cashman turned the tie in Dunhallow's favour and Douglas were never able to recover.
