Club figure comments on transfer tussle involving Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers and Bournemouth

The forward yesterday completed his long awaited departure from London Road as he made the move to the South Coast to link up with Scott Parker’s side after being linked with a move away from Peterborough for quite some time.

As well as the Cherries, Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers are both said to have made offers for the talented attacker, however he seemingly always had his heart set on a move to the Vitality Stadium.

Confirming that this was always Dembele’s intention, MacAnthony stated the following recently:

“We had bids accepted from Birmingham and Blackburn and Bournemouth were at the same stage they’d been for a week or so. He made it very clear that he wanted to join Bournemouth.”

Dembele joins the Cherries as one of five deadline day additions and will now be looking to make an impact for the promotion chasers on the South Coast.

The attacker has put pen to paper on a three year deal with his new side.

The Verdict 

This is a great bit of business from the Cherries and it is clear that their superior finances ultimately prevailed as they fought off competition from both Birmingham and Blackburn to get their man.

Dembele will add an extra option in the final third of the pitch and now Parker has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal moving forwards.

This could well give them the edge over their promotion rivals in the months ahead and it is for that reason that the Cherries have taken such a big risk financially.

The Peterborough man is another exciting signing on the South Coast and is sure to have a big influence on proceedings in the games to come.
