"Clearly a trust issue there" - Journalist drops major claim involving Moyes and West Ham ace

West Ham United boss David Moyes does not trust Said Benrahma despite the winger being among the Hammers’ best attacking options, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Benrahma joined the Irons from London rivals Brentford in a deal which could be worth as much as £30million in 2020, but he has failed to nail down a regular starting spot despite exciting glimpses of what he can offer.

Benrahma was restored to West Ham’s starting line-up for the 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday and he staked a claim for remaining in the first XI for tomorrow’s Europa League last-16 second leg against Spanish side Sevilla by notching two assists.

The game-changing performance came after the 26-year-old had been made to settle for substitute appearances in recent weeks, having been on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

However, Moyes still refused to praise the 17-cap Algeria winger too much after the victory at the London Stadium.

The Scotsman was keen to point out that Benrahma had been poor in certain stages of the Premier League encounter and challenged the wide-man to be more consistent over the course of 90 minutes.

There was tension between the pair when the ex-Brentford star was substituted against Newcastle United last month, with Benrahma showing discontent after being withdrawn by Moyes for a Premier League record 18th time this season.

Jones believes Benrahma has yet to fully win over Moyes despite the ex-Everton and Manchester United chief being the man to welcome him to the London Stadium.
