Claire O'Riordan follows Barrett to Standard Liege
Republic of Ireland defender Claire O'Riordan has followed Amber Barrett to Belgian outfit Standard Liege.
The Limerick 28-year-old departed Celtic earlier this month having starred - and scored - in their Scottish Cup final defeat of Rangers.
O'Riordan is currently in Brisbane preparing for the World Cup having forced her way into Vera Pauw's squad with a fine performance in the 3-2 friendly win over Zambia three weeks ago.
She had been hoping to use the torunament as a shop window following her exit from Celtic, but Standard Liege made their move early to secure the services of the experienced and versatile Irishwoman.
O'Riordan previously had a four-year stint in Germany with MSV Duisburg, who she joined from Wexford Youths.
Striker Barrett - also currently in camp Down Under - joined Standard in June after a frustrating spell at Turbine Potsdam, who were relegated from the German top flight last season.
Standard Liege are the reigning Belgian Women's Cup champions and finished third in the league.
