City win the Treble and become the new kings of modern football — LIVE

Manchester City made history this evening by winning the Champions League for the first time in the club's history.

Pep Guardiola's side travelled to Istanbul aiming to secure the European crown. With Rodri's second half goal, City banished the memories of two years ago when they lost out to Chelsea in the 2021 final.

In winning the Champions League, the Blues also sealed the treble. The Premier League title has been claimed for the fifth time in six years, while City beat Manchester United at Wembley last weekend to lift the FA Cup.

City were far from their best in Istanbul against a solid Inter side, but Rodri's second half goal was enough to seal the win and write City's name in football history.

"It's a CL final, it was going to be difficult for both teams. We weren't on our best in the first half, we were hesitating even if we had good chances. We knew we had to do better. We did, it was a 50/50 game. One goal made a difference, we are very fortunate it was for us.

"We knew everyone was talking about the treble, especially after the FA Cup final. The pressure was there, this team is built to handle the pressure in the best possible way. We did that today."
