Christian Horner warns that a 24-race F1 calendar in 2023 is 'right on the limit'

Red Bull boss Christian Horner admits that Formula 1's expected 24-race schedule for the 2023 campaign is "right on the limit".

With the inclusion of Las Vegas and Qatar, plus the possibility of China and South Africa returning to host races, it looks like more expense and pressure will be put on teams and drivers.

Under the current busy F1 schedule, many teams, who can afford to financially, have been made to operate using a revolving crew of specialised personnel, but which is not affordable for all F1 teams to do.

In an interview with Sky Sports F1, Horner was asked for his thoughts on the busy F1 schedule. He stated: "When you talk about 24 weekends out of 52 in a year, it does feel too much.

"But then, when you look at the venues that are coming in, you think, 'Ok, I'd definitely go an extra weekend for Vegas'.

"If South Africa was on the calendar, I'd definitely do an extra weekend for that as well. China might be coming back. It's such an important market, and I think they're working hard to make the weekends shorter and operationally more bearable for the teams and the travelling staff.

"And it's going to need that combination, but it's right on the limit."
